Weekend Getaway

Adam and I just got back from an amazing weekend getaway.
We spent two nights in downtown Atlanta and one night in Lake Lanier Islands for our friend Holly's wedding......just the two of us.

We left late Thursday evening and headed straight for ATL.
The sunset skies were gorgeous!

We woke up Friday morning and headed towards the Georgia Aquarium.
It was about a mile walk from our hotel room.
We enjoyed the sights of downtown Atlanta.

The aquarium was great!
I ordered and printed the tickets at home before we left so we were able to I walk right on in. I would highly recommend purchasing your tickets before you go, rather than waiting in the ridiculously long line.

These pictures don't do the aquarium justice.

For one, that shark was HUGE!!!!! This window was about the size of a movie theatre screen and it was so gorgeous. Adam and I just stood there and watched the fish swim by.

Adam "pet" the stingrays......I couldn't get the nerve up to touch them. :)

Walking out of the aquarium, I talked to Beth and she recommended we tour The World of Coca-Cola.
Adam and I LOVED this tour!!
They had an awesome 4D ride. We laughed hysterically the entire ride.
It was the kind that had wind, water, and moving seats. It was a trip!

Coca-Cola Santas

At the end of the tour, you can taste sodas from all over the world.
This was a blast.
My favorite was a green apple soda from China and Adam loved a soda from Tanzania.
Some of the drinks were so sweet that they tasted like the gestational diabetes drink! :) Some tasted more like water and weren't even carbonated.

We definitely got our sugar fix for the entire month!

They had scratch and sniff t-shirts in the gift shop!!
My favorite was Vanilla Coke.
I wonder if the shirts still smell after you wash them?

For dinner Friday night, we headed to Fox Brothers BBQ.
Oh my goodness. This BBQ was the best that Adam and I have ever tasted.
Beth recommended it and we are so glad that she did!
The restaurant was right on the train tracks and was filled with locals.
We were probably the only tourists and that's the way we like it.

I had a pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese.

Adam had beef brisket, baked beans, coleslaw, and jalapeno cornbread.

Everything was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

Saturday, we checked out of our hotel room and headed for Ikea. I've dreamed of shopping at Ikea for a long time. I came prepared with a shopping list in hand, as not to be too overwhelmed in this 366,000 square foot store!!

It was everything I dreamed of and more. I wish I could have spent eight more hours browsing, but Adam was hungry and I didn't want to press my luck. He was very well behaved and didn't complain at all! We got some great things including a kids table and chairs for Camp's birthday....shhh don't tell! :)

We ate lunch at The Varsity.
We could both take it or leave it......it was a little too crowded and noisy.

After lunch we headed north towards Lake Lanier.
We stopped off at Bass Pro Shops so Adam could do a little shopping as well.
Hey, it's only fair!! I do love a good Bass Pro Shops though.
And their restrooms meet all of my criteria:
1. seat covers
2. foaming hand soap
3. real paper towels ( I can't stand hand dryers!)
About fifteen minutes outside of Lake Lanier Islands, we get a call from Beth saying that our friend Lauren forgot her bridesmaids dress in Beth's car, at Holly's house.......and because Adam and I are so nice, we said we'd go and get it. :)
We met Lauren at the entrance of the Lodge to get Beth's keys and then headed south to Holly's house to get the dress. She lives close to the lodge, but traffic was terrible and we didn't make it back until an hour later. Just in time for pictures, thank goodness!
After all of the excitement, Adam and I finally checked into our wonderful room. It was so extremely nice and cozy. We were able to rest and watch some TV before having to get ready for the wedding.

street sign on the way back to the lodge.....too cute.

The wedding venue was breathtaking.
Right on Lake Lanier.

Holly was a gorgeous bride.
I loved her dress.....very timeless.

Holly and Brad look so happy together.

Beautiful Hydrangeas

I love these girls. It was so wonderful to spend time with them. Adam enjoyed their company just as much as I did.....he was able to roll with our craziness and fit right in. I was a proud wife.
L to R (Heather, Lane, Amber, Beth)

Adam and I had an absolute BLAST!

We were told that the band did not take requests, but Adam yelled out "OLD CROW!" and minutes later, they were playing Wagon Wheel.....that's all the motivation we needed to head out to the dance floor.

I love dancing with Adam.
And I love that he's not too cool to dance.

We really let loose....
We even slow danced too.....brought me back to 11th grade homecoming. :)
We had such a great time. After the dance floor, we gathered around a table with several friends from high school. Lots of laughs were had.
Adam became fast friends with Dan....the husband of my friend Kelli. Dan graduated the same year as we did, but went to a different high school.
We closed the wedding down, but weren't ready for the party to be over. So a group of us went back to our hotel room to hang out on our "veranda". We even hit up Waffle House at 2am!
It was the perfect weekend. It was so nice for me and Adam to get away.....to not have to worry about naptimes, bottles, and diapers.
I think it's so important for us to do stuff like this.
We missed the little buddy like crazy, but didn't worry about him one bit. My mom watched him and was soooooo good about sending texts and picture messages to inform us on what Camp was up to.
On the drive back to Tallahassee yesterday, Adam and I reminisced and laughed about the entire weekend.
Thank you Brad and Holly for getting married and giving us the excuse to plan a weekend getaway!
And extra thanks to Mama Byrd & Chandler for taking such great care of the Camper!!!

Frozen Yogurt & Friends

Camp had TCBY for the first time today.....a kids cup of Golden Vanilla.
He loooooved it!

See how happy he is?

He's been on Augmentin for ten days (last night was his last dose) so I figured a little frozen yogurt would be good for his system!

We'll be eating TCBY even more often after reading this!

Sophie came over to play today.
Camp was sleeping when she got here so she walked around with his picture until he woke up.

They were so cute together.
Camp was so excited to have a friend over to play!

Sophie is a lot more mobile than Camp so she let him sit in his easy chair while she brought him cool toys.

Photo Shoot

Camp and I went outside this afternoon for a little photo shoot.

I think we got some good ones!
It was that magical time of day where the lighting is perfect......it was just extremely hot outside.

He wanted to eat the flowers.

He was such a trooper.....
We went from the front porch, to a wardrobe change with a wipe down (he ate potting soil and it got everywhere), back out to the front yard, and then on to the back yard.

Sweet boy....

Sweet Surprise

I opened up the mailbox today to find a package for the Camper.....
It was from his Godmother, Beth!!!!
He was so excited to open it and the moment the precious monkey was out of the bag, Camp was grinning ear to ear!

I told him to kiss the monkey....

He's been giving the sweetest kisses lately.....I get tears in my eyes every time he kisses me....mmmmm!!

He loves his monkey lovey, Beth!!

She also sent a sweet "get well soon" card and a bag of peanut M&M's for me and Adam to enjoy as well!
So thoughtful!

Thanks Bethel!!

Yay for Olivia!

We had a shower for sweet Olivia Claire at our house today.
It was such a blast!
Yummy food, sweet friends, everything pink and green.

I never got a picture of the table fully set up, but this is close enough!
I had the onesies monogrammed to hang as the centerpiece (and to give as a gift to Danielle!)
There was another one that said "Olivia" in green, but I can't get that picture to pull up on the computer.....it was adorable though!

This raspberry lemonade was a huge hit.....

Me and the pretty mama.....she's still wearing her wedding rings and has the skinniest ankles in town. That's just not fair! :)

Olivia got so many lovely things!!

Hostesses with the Mama!
(Lane, Danielle, Katie, Dorian)

HUGE props to my extremely talented and handsome husband. He showed up at 8am with the crew to do some last minute yard touch ups.....Have I told you how lucky I am???
Yes I think I have. But I am extremely lucky!!

He was laying pinestraw and created the gravel walk way to the park right up until 10 am and then made his secret getaway right as everyone was arriving.
THANK YOU ADAM! :)
We can't wait to meet sweet Olivia!

Crazy Week!

Well, I was wrong.....Camp was not on the mend.
Monday evening, Camp's temperature went up to 105.....so off to Urgent Care we went. They did a flu swab, chest xrays and took some blood. He had a shot of Rocephin and the poor buddy was traumatized. We left and his temp was back down to safer levels.
Tuesday we went to the dr. and after careful evaluation, the radiologist couldn't rule out Pneumonia so they put Camp on Augmentin to be sure. The doctor wanted us to come back the next day to keep an eye on him.
So off to the doctor again......this time Camp's temp was 103.6 and he was extremely lethargic so the doctor sent us to the ER. After eight hours and many other tests later (more xrays, blood work, urine, flu swab, Rocephin IV drip, etc) they just think it's a virus.
The three of us had a looooong day yesterday. We didn't get back home until 11:30 and we were all exhausted.
We went back to the doctor today (three days in a row!) and actually got to meet with Camp's real pediatrician, Dr. Elzie. He felt so bad for the Camper and said it seems like he's on the tail end of this. The doctor that saw Camp yesterday, passed us in the hall today and was very impressed at his change in appearance.
Camp's temp did get up to 101.6 this afternoon, but I'm just glad it's not getting as high as it was and I'm hoping he just continues to improve!

Daddy & Camper playing peek-a-boo in the ER.

Poor Camp would break down and cry every time a nurse would come through the door. :)
We were lucky enough to have our neighbor, Sidney, as his ER nurse. She took extra good care of him and we missed her when she left at 7pm! We didn't get quite as much attention with our new nurse! :) It was just nice to see a familiar face in such a scary place!

On the Mend....

I hope this nasty fever is on its way out the door.

Currently, Camp has no fever and is watching Backyardigans.
He woke up this morning with a fever of 102 and was extremely pitiful. I called the drs. office when they opened this morning and they said that if he has a fever with no other symptoms, they assume it's a virus. They said that the fever just has to run its course....3-4 days.
I went to Publix this morning to buy Motrin because the Tylenol just wasn't cutting it. When I came back, Camp and Adam were on the couch and Camp seemed a lot cooler. His temp was 99...the lowest it had been in two days.
He went down for another nap and woke up again with the 102. I gave him Motrin and he slept in my arms/on the couch until about 2:00 this afternoon. He has had no fever since he woke up from that nap.
He ate some lunch and I see that as a good sign seeing that he hasn't had anything but bottles since Friday night.
Adam and I have been nervous wrecks! It's a scary thing when your baby is sick for the first time.....especially with such high temperatures that weren't wanting to budge.
And the funny thing is...I don't see any signs of that tooth anymore. Only time will tell! :)

Thermometers & Tylenol

Poor Camper is SICK. I definitely don't think it's just teething.
He's had a fever since yesterday morning and it went up to 104 this afternoon....of course it has to be the WEEKEND!
I talked to the nurse on call and she told us to continue with the Tylenol and to call in the morning if he still has a fever. She made me feel a lot better, but this still makes me a nervous wreck!
Ahhh...I guess we have to be thankful that this is Camp's first time being sick in 10 months.
He just looks so puny and doesn't want to leave my arms. I've cuddled with him all day.
I've enjoyed the lovey dovey time, but I am so ready for him to get better!

Our Baby is Teething

And he feels pitiful....

I noticed a white spot on Camp's gums last week and was quite sure that it was a tooth trying to make its way to the surface.
Camp woke up this morning and didn't quite seem like himself. I picked him up and he was very warm. I took his temperature and it was 99.5.
After his morning nap it was 100.7. He's on his second dose of Tylenol and is down for another nap.
He hasn't been fussy, but he's been very cuddly and doesn't seem to have an appetite. He'll drink his bottles, but doesn't want anything else.
This is his first tooth so I'm not quite sure what to expect. I know fevers are very common with teething, but I sure hope it doesn't last long!!
I'm gonna miss that toothless grin, but he's going to look so cute with a tooth!
(It's his bottom right tooth)

Fun With Spaghetti

Camp tried spaghetti for the first time tonight.
It was pretty messy and it ended up all over his face....but that's a right of passage for babies, right? :)

After dinner, we put him in the sink for a nice bubble bath.

He loves that little rubber ducky. He puts it in his mouth like a paci....it's hilarious.

Camp's First Birthday Gift!

Camp's Great Mamaw got this adorable chair for his birthday.
She was so excited to get it that she let Camp have it early! We are happy to start enjoying it now! He looks so cute sitting in the chair.
It's crazy to even start thinking about his first birthday, but it is just around the corner!
Thanks, Mamaw!! Camp loves his chair!
