Just What the Dr. Ordered

While Camp was eating his breakfast this morning, he fell out of his highchair and landed right on his forehead. Do you see that big goose egg? He cried for a few seconds and then was fine.
We had his 1 year doctor appointment today so I had Dr. Elzie check it out just to be on the safe side. Dr. E's exact words were "wow, that's impressive!" :)
Camp's stats were:
Weight- 21 pounds, 14 ounces (35%)
Height- 31 inches (82%)
Head Circumference- 18.7 inches (82%)Camp had a great check up and Adam and I had a nice long visit with Dr. Elzie. I can't say it enough, but I love him as our pediatrician. He sat in there and talked to us like he had no other patients waiting on him.
Camp got four shots and cried as he got them, but then was fine!! He's such a big boy!

Camp and I went over to our friend Meredith's house yesterday for a little photography class. She's a great photographer and I just wanted to pick her brain to get a better idea on how to take better pictures. She gave me lots of pointers and showed me some great equipment/lenses that I just NEED! Like this and this!

I had lots of people send me emails/messages/comments about not being able to find pumpkin in the stores. After I made the batch of cookies last week (made with a can of pumpkin that I had left over from last year) I wanted to buy more and couldn't find any myself!
I contacted Libby's and they said most of the pumpkin crop from last year didn't meet their high standards so they didn't produce as many cans. BUT they will be harvesting this year's crop soon and to expect more in the next few weeks. I found plenty of cans today when I was at Wal-Mart so I purchased TWELVE. If any of you are still having a hard time finding pumpkin, let me know and I might be able to part with a can or two. :)
In my honest opinion, I think that come September, people go pumpkin crazy (myself included) and clean the stores out of their supply before the stores increase their pumpkin orders for the fall. Canned pumpkin is available year round, but I'm sure stores buy more during the fall months to keep up with the demand. I had this same exact problem last year at this time and was able to find pumpkin the week after Camp was born..... ;) Because you know me, I remember things like that!!

And with my twelve cans of pumpkin I may attempt these in the near future...
How good does this look??!!!
This should be illegal.

I found the pumpkin in the baking aisle at Wal-Mart. At Publix, it's usually in the canned fruit aisle.

Camp's Birthday

I think Camp had lots of fun on his birthday!! We went to Winthrop park and played around for awhile. Camp really enjoyed the equipment and I think he'll have even more fun when he's able to walk around by himself.
After the park, we headed for TCBY. Camp passed out right as we pulled up so we went home so he could nap. When he got up, he ate lunch and then we headed back to TCBY. :) He needed a special treat for his special day!! (and so did his Mama!)

For dinner we headed to FGF to celebrate Camp's and Popsie's birthdays!!
I think Camp is the only one year old to have his birthday dinner at FGF. :)
Camp had such a busy day with bad naps so he was pretty exhausted at his birthday dinner.
He was a little restless until his HUGE plate of macaroni and cheese arrived.
He sat there and inhaled the entire dish. He got pretty messy, but it occupied his time and filled up his tummy.

FGF ran out of my favorite Almond Joy Tart so Carrie Anne and I settled for my second favorite, Perfect Chocolate Cake.

CA and I also shared a chocolate martini....YUM!

Popsie's birthday is on the 28th!
September is the best month ever!

- - ALL ABOUT CAMP at ONE YEAR - -

  • He started clapping on my birthday. He claps all the time now. We can say "Yay, Camper!" and he'll clap.

  • He's starting to hand us things and "feed" us food. He thinks it's pretty funny

  • He loves to pretend he's talking on the phone. He heard a phone ringing on TV today and immediately put his hand up to his ear to act like he was on the phone.

  • He likes to walk behind his Tow Mater truck. He does not like when he runs into the wall!

  • He's doing a great job with his sippy cups. He's only getting one bottle in the morning and he's done quite well with the water/juice/milk transition.

  • He signs "all done", "milk" (we use this sign for juice too), and he has his own special sign for "please".

  • He'll hold up one finger when we ask how old he is.

  • He's still walking with assistance. We're able to hold one of his hands and have him walk around. I know he can walk without our help, but he hasn't really wanted to take the plunge yet and I'm not really rushing it!

  • Still NO TEETH! (We did see teeth when he had the chest x-rays last month....so at least we know they are there!)

  • He loves to read books. He always wants Adam to read him Sandra Boynton's Barnyard Dance before bed. He also loves his tractor and truck book and Pat the Bunny.

  • He is becoming such a little boy! It's amazing to see how much he understands.

  • He's in between size 3 and 4 diapers.

  • He's wearing size 12 months clothes....and some size 18 months.

"Yay, Camper!!"

"Oooooh!"

Loving on Beary

I simply cannot believe that our precious baby boy is ONE! This year has flown by. I really do feel that I enjoyed every moment of this year and savored each stage, but it still went by so quickly.

We're off to go play at the park and get ice cream! We got a coupon for a free balloon at Publix so we'll probably head on over there too!!

(I started working on this post last night because it tends to take a while to get all of the pictures up so it says 9.25.09, but his birthday is September 26th!)

Now we are just waiting on the crisp Fall air!!

Camp had his first taste of pumpkin cookies today.

He seriously ate atleast six cookies.
Do you think he enjoyed them?

Picture Perfect Birthday

I've had such a wonderful birthday!!
Today I turned the big 2-6. There's nothing too exciting about being 26.....but now I'm even closer to 30. YIKES.
Last year at this time I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of Camp.
I'm glad he is here now to celebrate my birthdays with me....and I love that our birthdays are so close. Six days apart!
I opened my birthday present from Adam last night. It was burning a hole in his pocket and he couldn't wait.
He was so proud of it and rightly so........it was a Canon Rebel XSI!!!!!!
My poor Olympus has been wrapped in packing tape and on its last leg for a while. It's been an amazing camera though and it was a college graduation present from my mom.
But I've been dreaming about the Rebel for some time now.....and Adam took notice. :)
So needless to say, I spent most of my birthday testing out the new camera.
I still have A LOT to learn, but it's been pretty dang fun playing around with it!

I started the day with a VENTI Pumpkin Spiced Latte.....I didn't even finish half of it, but it was mighty tasty.

I also had a pumpkin muffin filled with cream cheese. I made Adam pause while singing "Happy Birthday" so I could take a picture!

We spent most of the day doing absolutely NOTHING and I loved it.
The only things I wanted to do was go to JoAnn's to get fabric for a camera strap cover and go to Dorothy B. Oven to take pictures.
And that's just what we did!

We had such a nice afternoon walking around. We were the only ones out there for most of the time and it was so peaceful.

Camp was an extremely patient model.
We ventured back to a pond that we had no idea was even there! Adam and I have been to Dorothy B. Oven too many times to count and neither of us had ever seen it before.
There were several little bridges and a dock that made for cute pictures.

So now you all will have to bear with me as I learn my way throughout this awesome camera. But I have a pretty cute subject to photograph and I highly doubt any of you will mind! :)

Thank you to all of my family and friends for making this day so very special!

Sweet

Camp loves chocolate......he doesn't eat it often, but when he gets a little taste, he goes crazy!
I guess he gets that from me.

I didn't eat any chocolate!
