Memorial Day Weekend

Camp had so much fun with little Nick. Adam and I were thinking that this sweet little dog should be our next breed of choice. He's a Pocket Beagle. Doesn't make much noise and is soooooo sweet!

Barrett waiting for cinnamon rolls!

Uh oh....we're thinking that he swallowed a mussell. Ooops! It'll all come out in the wash.

Looks like a big boy clutching on to his truck. Gonna take after his Daddy and Uncle Trip!

That lime was sure tasty, Daddy! I love you so much.

Oh The Places He Goes

Camp had fun playing in the kitchen the other day....I just had to keep him away from the stairs. (baby gate is on my shopping list!) I'm searching for the best "babyproofed" room in the house. The kitchen and the downstairs room are probably our best bets at the moment. The playroom still doubles (I guess quadruples) as office/craft/storage room so we need to get on that!
I still can't believe he's on the move!

ALL ABOUT CAMP - - 8 MONTHS
  • He scoots everywhere!! It's time to break out the outlet covers and other baby proofing supplies. He's getting into everything!! It's lots of fun though.
  • He says dada dada.....and that has to be my favorite thing that he does right now. He sounds so sweet when he talks like a big boy.
  • He blows raspberries.
  • I've officially started the weaning process. It's bittersweet because this chapter is over, but I'm looking forward to getting my body back....and no more nursing bras.
  • He takes three naps a day with his best nap being from 11:30-1:30 (the time I've been trying to get him NOT to nap, but he seems to sleep the longest at that time!)
  • Still sleeping 8pm to 7am. No waking up at night and still going down without a fight. It is wonderful.
  • Interacts with other children.
  • Loves to dance.
  • He's wearing 9-12 month clothes and is in a size 3 diaper. (we don't go to the dr. again until 9 months and I'm so anxious to see how big he is!)

These months are going by so fast and I can't believe he's already eight months. This is a super cute and fun stage. He's getting so spunky and his personality is definitely shining through. He is a little ham and flirts with everyone he sees. He's a huge hit at the grocery store. We love our Camper!

What's That On The Floor??

It's not a dust bunny (well, don't look too closely....you might see some of those too) it's a snuggle bunny!! And he's learning to scoot scoot around! I can't take my eyes off of him!! He's on the move! He army crawls and he also does an inch worm move. He gets up on all fours, rocks, gets flat on his belly and then repeats....and before you know it, he's clear across the room!

I feel like this child has grown up overnight!! He even feels a lot heavier when we hold him.
He's starting to babble using consonants.....baba, dada. It's such a cute talk and he sounds like such a big baby now.
When riding in his car seat, he'll turn his head back to watch me. It's the sweetest thing. I'll look back and he's just staring at me and then I'll see his little eyes squeeze shut because he's smiling so big. I have to be careful not to look at him for long or I'll run off the road! :)

He can also eat his weight in Cheerios. He loves them. I put him in his high chair and just pour them all over the tray. It keeps him occupied while I prepare his food.
This used to be a time of frantic screaming........he was so impatient waiting for his food!!

I've told you how much I LOVE that Adam LOVES to work in the yard.
It doesn't take much for him to get our yard whipped into shape.
We have two tomato plants sitting on our front porch and I don't think I've ever been so excited about plants in my life!! And I don't even like tomatoes! I do like the fact of growing our own veggies though....and I'm hoping we get some tasty results from those babies.

I don't think I've told you how much I hate cats. Hate is such a strong word, but I have strong feelings against these animals. For some reason our yard is the gathering place for the neighborhood cats. Adam found one sleeping INSIDE his truck a few months ago. He left the windows cracked and it slithered right on in. That's the last time he ever left his windows cracked.
I just hope that while they are chilling in our yard, driving our dogs crazy, they are keeping the mice population down as well.

I Love Sundays

I love Sundays....it's the only day that Adam has off from work.
He works HARD!
It's the day that I look forward to all week.
Yesterday Adam, Camp, and I went to the Mary Brogan Museum to see the bodies exhibit. It was neat, but very creepy at the same time. We really enjoyed going. Camp was so well behaved. We went down to the second floor to play around with the interactive exhibits and Camp squealed the whole time! He loved the noise and commotion.

This time for us to be a little family is so special. After a long work week we truly cherish this day.

A Fun Lunch & A Fun Recipe

Danielle and I (along with our youngin's) drove up to Havana yesterday and met Holly, Sally Kate, & Mary for lunch at the Mockingbird Cafe.
We had such a great time!
The babies were on their very best behavior.

Camp and I shared that cake pictured above. He also enjoyed throwing his toys on the ground, chewing up straw wrappers and napkins, and looking at the beautiful jasmine.
Sally Kate took a little cat nap and talked so sweetly to us.

Sophie got to sit in a big girl booster. She enjoyed eating her pickle and drinking her sippy cup.

Now on to the recipe.
This is the recipe that I get the most compliments on.
My mom has made it for as long as I can remember.
It's so tasty and easy.
I made it last night for dinner. (along with soft tacos)
I've had a few people ask for the recipe recently, so I'll share it with everyone!!

(Mama Byrd's) Black Bean Dip

Ingredients:
  • 2 cans black beans (drained)
  • Diced onion (I use about 3 Tbs.)
  • Tabasco sauce to taste (maybe 5 dashes?) If you have a husband like Adam Gunter, more is better.
  • Garlic Salt to taste (a few shakes will do)
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (my favorites are Colby Jack and Cheddar)

Preheat oven to 350*. Mix black beans, onion, Tabasco sauce, and garlic salt in 9x13 casserole dish. Spread evenly in dish. Top with shredded cheese and bake for 25 minutes or until bubbly.

Serve with:

And then thank me for sharing this with you.

Just Looking

We found a piece of property out near the Meyer's house and drove out there last night to take a look.

It's gorgeous.
Our kind of woods.....lots of trees.....no noise.

Ellie loved it.

The Meyer's drove their Gator and met us. The Meyer children said they would love if we lived out there so they could babysit Camp.

Camp loved it too!!

Afterwards we drove over to the Meyer's.
They hooked us up with lots of fun toys for Camp!
Adam let Ellie swim in their pond and retrieve the tennis ball.
Adam, Jake Robert, Finn, & Linse Lane spent the rest of the time exploring in the woods and catching fireflies. They had so much fun!
We would love to have neighbors as great as the Meyer Family!!
We are just looking though....it's fun!
