39 Weeks and 3 Days

That's how long I was pregnant with Camp. And that is how old he is today.

I had lots of people tell me that I would miss being pregnant and miss having Camp all to myself....feeling his kicks, hiccups, and rolls.
I thought those people were crazy.
Why the heck would I miss having Camp in my belly? I'd be able to hold him and kiss him and love on him. Wasn't that so much better than being pregnant?

Well, pregnancy amnesia has hit me and I do miss being pregnant. Feeling him roll around and kick me was so very special. Something only I could feel. It was such a wonderful feeling.
And that first kick of every morning was always so reassuring that everything was still ok.

My pregnancy with Camp was pretty uneventful...the usual discomfort and the extreme heat of being pregnant in the summer were really my only complaints. But I do have to say that I really like having Camp outside of my belly for everyone to enjoy! :)

Camp had his 9 month check up today with Dr. Elzie.
Here are his stats:
Height- 29 1/2"- 85%
Weight- 19 pounds, 5 ounces - 30% (he's gained 12 pounds exactly since birth!)
Head Circumference- 18.2" - 80%

This was an exciting appointment because he didn't have any vaccinations. I think those shots hurt me more than they hurt him! They did check his iron levels and pricked his toe not once, but twice!! The first time the iron level was low so they checked it again and it was perfect! They said sometimes the alcohol swab can interfere with the readings. But both times, Camp didn't even flinch! He was such a big boy.

Dr. Elzie went over the foods we should avoid and gave us the ok on dairy and meat. Camp's experimenting with lots of new foods. He's discovered Goldfish and loves them. Today he tried Craisins and we just introduced YoBaby yogurt and deli meat chicken the other day. He hasn't turned anything down yet!! Yesterday he had his first taste of cheese pizza and ate almost an entire piece! He's remembering that pizza from my first trimester when I "craved" it alllllll of the time!
Sitting in the waiting room at the doctor's office is always an experience. I feel like I have to sanitize my entire body after I leave. Today Adam and I saw a 4 year old try to bite her mother and then precede to tell her that she hated her. Oooohh man.....good times!

Grandpa's Visit

My dad came in town today and took us all out to lunch!
Trip has spent the past week in Pennsylvania with my dad and Meri.
My dad and Trip took a cross country road trip back down to Tallahassee and my dad was able to spend a few hours with us.
My dad hadn't seen Camp in 5 months so he really enjoyed spending some time with him.

My dad was so surprised at how much Camp looks like me as a baby.
Thanks for the fun afternoon, Daddy aka Grandpa (that's still so weird for me to call him that!!)

Lunch Date

Camp and I had our first lunch date alone last week.
We had the very best time.
We went to Atlanta Bread where I ordered my usual chicken salad sandwich and Camp enjoyed a fruit cup.
It was such a sweet time doing something out of the ordinary. We might have to make this a part of our weekly routine.
I think Camp enjoyed it just as much as I did!

ALL ABOUT CAMP - - 9 MONTHS

  • First of all, let me just say that this little buddy is getting cuter and funnier by the day. Adam and I are more in love with Camp now than ever!! This is such a fun, fun stage!!
  • He waves to everything....including the fan. ;)
  • He's still a dancing machine.
  • Understands a lot of what we say...kicks, smells the flowers, "How big is Camper? So BIG!", etc.
  • He is a major flirt!!! I can't take the kid anywhere! :) Haha....he smiles to everyone and we have people stop us all the time while we are out. We always get "What a happy baby!" and "Is he always this good?" We also get "He's the cutest baby I've ever seen" and "What a beautiful baby" Ohhhh yeah we're proud!
  • He still just scoots around....I'm doubting that he'll ever really crawl because he's so mobile with his scooting. He pushes off with his left foot and leaves his right foot in the air. It's the silliest army crawl, but it gets him where he needs to go!
  • He wakes up between 7 and 7:30 and still goes to bed at 8pm.
  • He gets 6 oz. of formula 4 times a day (every 4 hours). The weaning process went well with only a few days of discomfort for me.
  • Still in 9-12 months clothes and size 3 diapers.
9 MONTH BLOOPERS

These little photo sessions are getting a lot harder!! Camp doesn't want to sit still and cooperate. :)
I promise to be back in full force now! Thanks for hanging in there with me!
*Special thanks to my mom and Fred for the loaner laptop and camera!!

Baby Tucker is Here

Jon & Becca welcomed Tucker James Wood into the world yesterday morning at 6:20am. He is 8 pounds and 12 ounces. We went to visit him today and he is absolutely precious! Has a head full of blondy blonde hair. I just kept staring at him....he's sooooo stinkin' cute! I can't believe Camp was ever that teeny. Camp was actually a pound and a half smaller and now he's a big ol' boy!

Congrats Jon, Becca, & big brother, Brennan!

Big Boy

For some reason, I can't get my new pictures to upload to the dinosaur of a computer. So this precious picture of Camp at 5 weeks will just have to suffice!
Camp is getting to be such a big boy these days. He's starting to understand what we say...uh oh...discipline here we come! :) He will smell the flowers when we tell him to, he'll kick, kick, kick when we tell him to and he will also search for his paci when I ask him where it is. If it's in reach, he'll scoot on over to it and get it. He also looks at the dogs when we ask where they are. It's crazy to think that he really understands us!! He definitely knows the word NO too! :)
I'm hoping to borrow a computer or get our laptop back real soon....especially in time for Camp's 9 month birthday next week!! Can't wait to see how much different he looks from last month!

Our Hearts Are Heavy

Adam's cousin, friend, and hunting buddy, Dixon Camp, passed away on Wednesday as a result of sudden cardiac arrest. We are all deeply saddened by this loss. Dixon was such a charming and wonderful man and we are going to miss him so much.

Please keep Dixon's family in your thoughts and prayers.

Pickin' Flowers and A Computer Update

The Meyer children came over for a bit yesterday morning. All 4 of them. You would think that I might have been running around pulling my hair out, but these children aren't like usual children. They are perfect little angels. It was soooo nice to have them play with Camp!!
The flowers in all of our vases had seen better days so we all went outside to cut fresh blooms.
Elsa cut them and Linse Lane was the flower holder. We went around the whole front yard in search of the prettiest flowers to cut.
We were all about to melt by the time we got the perfect bouquet. It was so incredibly hot outside.
We got some great ones and they really perked up our house!
Adam was super impressed with the wildflower mix that we put in the living room. :)
COMPUTER UPDATE:
The laptop is at Best Buy and has to be sent off to be repaired. We probably won't get it back for another 2-3 weeks. :( I told the extremely helpful and patient man that I wanted to make sure every picture was saved....they are saving everything onto a disk for us. I about lost it thinking about losing those pictures!! This has definitely taught me the lesson of backing every month's pictures up on a CD.
The man mentioned something about a motherboard and other than that, I have no idea what's wrong with it. I'm just thankful for our 2 year protection plan!
We still have our dinosaur desktop so unless I throw it out the window in pure frustration, you will still be able to keep up with the Gunter household. Hip, hip, hooray!!!

Blue Screen of Death

Our laptop showed me the blue screen of death last night. It won't even turn on anymore. The stinkin' thing is ONLY 4 months old.
You have to understand that the laptop only serves 4 purposes: picture uploader, blog reader/updater, and email. It's not like we play crazy games, download music, or run huge programs.
I'm taking it to Best Buy today and hoping that whatever is wrong with it, it's covered under our 2 year protection plan.
I really hope all of our pictures aren't lost forever.
Geek Squad, please save me!!!!!!!

Water Baby, Watermelons, & Bubbles

Camp had his first real pool time this weekend.
He loves the water. He kicks and splashes and squeals!!
He also had his first taste of watermelon and his first experience with bubbles.
He loved both!

You Can Ring My Bell

Trip passed ALL of his exams with flying colors!! Kings Point has a tradition of 'ringing the bell' once you find out you've passed your exams. Luckily, for parents and sisters, there is a live feed of this exciting event. I sat in front of the computer all day watching the live feed. I stared at the bell.....watching birds land on it, rain dropping in the back ground....then suddenly I heard noise!! The bell ringing had begun! I sat there hoping the next person to run across the screen would be Trip. I'm just glad he didn't waste time to ring the bell. I would have been sitting there about to have a conniption if he had been towards the end. And he rang it a second time for good measure! :)

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED for him!!!! Four years of HARD work has paid off!

Baby Tucker is on His Way!!

Tucker James Wood

Tucker is due in a little less than three weeks and we are all so excited to meet him!
He will be the second boy to join the Jon & Becca Wood family. I know big brother, Brennan is going to be such a help.
Becca is not only a friend, but family as well!! Her husband, Jon, and Adam are second cousins. And Becca's maiden name was Gunter.....but there's no relation to our Gunter family. It confuses people quite a bit. :)

I'm a huge fan of baby showers for 2nd, 3rd, etc. babies. Why should they be left out of all of the fun?? They need their own monogrammed items and new baby gear too! Baby Tucker is going to be totally set with his new goodies.

There were so many lovely people in attendance at this shower. Friends, family, pregnant mamas!! I think we counted nine expectant mothers!! Some aren't even starting to show so it was quite difficult for people to differentiate between the "with child" and the "without child" ladies. Haha.
I saw one of my favorite women last night, Jane Bachtler. She's the mother of my sweet friend, Beth. I hadn't seen her in such a long time, but we had a great time catching up. She informed me that she was a loyal reader of our blog and it made me so happy!! I never really know who is actually reading this, but I love to find out that people do and actually enjoy it!!
I'd love for you to leave us a comment now and then! Our blog ticker went up 200 times in 24 hours. While Mama Byrd and Lollie were probably at least 150 of those, I know there are more of you out there and I'd love to hear from you!!
That means you too, Pam! :)

So leave us some love and let us know you are reading!!

Love

Adam came home for lunch today and the three of us sat around the table to eat.
We had such a nice lunch. Camp and I both enjoyed the midday visit with Adam.
When Adam walked out the door to go back to work, Camp started crying. Camp's starting to really show favorites towards his Daddy. :)

Adam and I had a wonderful anniversary night. We went to one of our favorite fancy restaurants, Food Glorious Food. We reminisced and had lovely conversation. It's fun to have these new "holidays"(anniversaries, Mother's Day). June 3rd didn't mean anything to me five years ago, but now it's such a lovely day to celebrate the love that Adam and I have for one another.
-FYI-
Next time you find yourself at Food Glorious Food, please order the Almond Joy Tart. It's heaven on a plate.

Three Years!

Adam and I are celebrating three years of wedded bliss today.
It's been a great three years. I am thankful for Adam every single day. He is such a wonderful husband, father, and friend.
Our wedding was the best party we've ever attended. It was perfect. Everything we both dreamed it would be. We talk about recreating the day......even down to the rehearsal dinner. It was such a fun weekend.
And it's been three years since we've visited this lovely place. Adam and I honeymooned in St. Thomas and we had the best time.
We talk about recreating that trip too!
Here's to many many many more years of happiness!!
