Where do I begin???
Adam and I just got back from a lovely long weekend in Charleston, South Carolina. It's been on my top travel list for years and I'm so glad we finally visited. It was nothing as I expected...but just as perfect as I'd imagined.
We stayed in the glorious Planters Inn where we received top notch service and were just a tad bit spoiled.
During the day, the hotel served lemonade...
and orange spiced tea.
At night they had decaf coffee (and hot water with tea bags...just for Bebe) and the tastiest gingersnaps I've ever had!
I loved every little detail and I finally decided that I do really want drapes somewhere in our house...
and a plate collage on a wall.
The wall color reminded me of Camp's room color...my fave!
On Friday we went to lunch at Jim 'N Nick's BBQ...we just stumbled across it while walking down King Street...well we actually followed our noses to the BBQ smell! Adam and I are always in the mood for BBQ and we were starving so we decided to give it a try.
We later found out that it was a chain restaurant (something we don't usually like especially on vacation) BUT it was sooooooo good! We loved their cheese biscuits!
After lunch we headed down King Street to see all of the gorgeous homes...
We loved every single home!
Friday night, we headed to Hank's for a fabulous dinner...
Then we came back to the hotel and ordered these drinks and headed to the terrace to enjoy the evening...can you guess which drink is mine? It was my signature drink of the entire weekend!
Saturday morning, we headed to Fort Sumter on this ferry boat.
It was a beautiful ride and we enjoyed seeing Charleston from the water.
Propped the camera on a canon for a self timer picture!
Fort Sumter was great and we learned a lot. Adam got very into it!
After Fort Sumter, we walked to Joseph's for lunch. We had yet another fantastic meal. It was a no frills breakfast and lunch joint, but the food was wonderful!
For dinner we went to Poogan's Porch. We had these pimento cheese fritters for an appetizer...yum yum!
This restaurant was great as well!! We loved that all of the restaurants were just steps from our hotel and we could walk everywhere with ease.
After dinner we headed to the courtyard at our hotel...we had the best time enjoying this beautiful scenery and our last night in Charleston.
The weather was just perfect.
The weather was just perfect.
Adam enjoyed a stogie...
We shared this fabulous piece of coconut cake. Peninsula Grill (located in Planters Inn) is famous for this cake and it was so good!
Sunday morning we headed to Middleton Place.
This is what Adam had been waiting for and it didn't let us down.
The grounds were gorgeous.
This is Adam taking mental notes so he can recreate this in some of his future designs! :)
He got so many great ideas and was once again inspired!
The camellias were already in bloom!
Another awesome timer shot! :)
Most of the property was covered azaleas and Adam is now itching to go back in the spring...I'm not complaining!
Sheep freely roamed the grounds! It was so neat to watch them wander...it was like we were in an old English village or something!
We had such a wonderful time and I wish we were back there right now! The food was amazing, our hotel was perfect and the company was the absolute best. I love my sweet husband so much and I'm so thankful that we are able to take trips like this together...just the two of us. Thank you to Yaya and Bop Bop who are probably still exhausted from watching the little buddy for us!
